This was a fun assignment for my students and myself. The students were very attentive and inquisitive about the materials. They were also excited about the website (mangareader.net). Students could click on a comic book and it would be translate it from Japanese to English. This was a great way to improve comprehension strategies and group discussions among their peers. It really opened their minds to different cultures. They were able to compare and contrast the text between the Japanese culture and the American culture. The greatest reward was the end of the assignment when students had to create a Manga episode. (http://disney.go.com/create/apps/comiccreator/manga)
